BLURB:
Scream meets YA in this hotly-anticipated new novel from the bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss.

One-by-one, the students of Osborne High are dying in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, the dark secrets among them must finally be confronted.

International bestselling author Stephanie Perkins returns with a fresh take on the classic teen slasher story that’s fun, quick-witted, and completely impossible to put down.

EXPECTATIONS: When I saw this cover and the Stephanie Perkins name on it I just had to get this book. The fact that this cheese romance author goes and writes a horror novel...yeah a preorder for sure.

THE WORLD: Our world really. We are in small town in somewhere of USA where nothing big ever happens and where people overthink things way too much.

CHARACTERS: Our main character is called Makani and she comes from Hawaii. Basically some mysterious thing happened there and Makani's parents ship her off to live with her grandma in the middle of nowhere. Except that nowhere turns into a town of horrible murders. Okay so Makani...wow, it has been awhile since I disliked a character this much. She is this really annoying person who thinks everybody is out there to find out her horrible secret. Also she is really really selfish, when people starts dying it's all oh but I never knew them and when somebody closer dies she is also barely concerned. Like srsly girl get your head out of your ass. Then there is Ollie and pardon me but Stephanie really went there with names...Anyways, so Ollie is this stand out kid super bonny with pink hair and a total loner. I am still not sure if he went to library for lunch because he was a loner or become this made him look like a loner. But in general I have read Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and Happily Ever After after reading this book and for me it feels like all these books have only two main characters that get a name change. They are all the same undeveloped and just empty. It's like they are totally flat.

ROMANCE: I think you cannot find stronger heterosexual coupling than in Perkins books tbh. It is always a girl and a boy and they are always exceptional and they are always madly in love, one true love stuff. One of Makani's friends was a transgender and I was really really hoping we will get more diversity but unfortunately having one transgender side character in a book is as far as Perkins is willing to go. So yeah. Makani and Ollie. Gonna puke.

GOOD: If I turn off my brain and just read it as a cheesy stupid horror attempt it is pretty enjoyable. It is super fast paces and also really short.

BAD: Firstly the whole killer thing is revealed extremely early. The reason why these killings are happening is also really fake and unbelievable. The big Makani's secret is revealed more towards the end but it is more like you expect a thunder and get a bird poop on your head. Just ridiculous. Romance as I said is super heterosexual and just makes you wanna puke so yeah what is left? I don't know. I think it was not a good book but I still somehow managed to enjoy it. I am weird sometimes, who doesn't know that?

OVERALL: If you tried reading Anna and the French Kiss series of Perkins and did not like it I would highly advice to stay away from this one too. I really loved Anna and the French Kiss book tho I read it years ago and if I reread now I would prob hate it but yeah...I am done with Perkins myself too. I mean I know I am very hard in this review but I really don't want to read a super positive one and have you to come back and say I wasted your time with this book.

What do you think about THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE?
