BLURB:
Something is wrong in Hidden Creek. The sleepy Alabama town is more haunted than any place fiend hunter Grisham Caso has ever seen. Unearthed graves, curse bags, and spilled blood all point to an evil that could destroy his gargoyle birthright. The town isn’t safe for anyone, and everyone says fiery Piper Devon knows why.

Piper wants to leave Hidden Creek behind. She’s had enough of secrets—they hide in the shadows of her room and tell her terrible things are coming. Too-charming city boy Grisham might be her only chance to save herself.

To survive, Piper and Grisham have to shed their secrets and depend only on each other. But what lurks in Hidden Creek still might take everything away from them, including each other.

EXPECTATIONS: This was one of my most anticipated releases because it deals with gargoyles and demons, and we really do not have enough of these books around!

THE WORLD: Would be simple and ordinary except for the dark magic. Basically you can create these curse items, usually bags that attract demons and who come at night and give you nightmares. I know it sounds pretty okay and not all that bad but apparently these demons can even slip into your body via your mouth and then destroy you from within. Of course because you have demons you need to have somebody who can destroy them and that is where gargoyles come in. Basically gargoyles are these guardians who look like human but can shift in gargoyles during the night and are very strong and fast and well yeah...able to kill demons.

CHARACTERS: Piper and Grisham are two main characters in this book and more or less main POVs tho I do think Grisham gets more. Basically Grisham is a guardian who comes to the town kill the demons while Piper is the local girls that demons are after. Nobody is super perfect or very unique but I did really hate Piper. She is this super pushy person, basically Grisham falls for her but she is this type of girl that when Grisham does not do what she wants she always makes him feel guilty. Like oh you don't wanna tell me about your centuries old secrets? It's okay it's not like you really like me or anything...Like wtf! And Grisham at the same time is no better because for all his toughness he still let's Piper manipulate him all she wants. It's just really not healthy.

ROMANCE: This book features really unhealthy relationship where everything is based on making other person feel guilty and not worthy.

GOOD: I really liked the idea of the book at first. Reading about kick ass guardians who go around killing demons was awesome. Also the way demons are summoned and whole dark magic...eat it up like a dessert.

BAD: Piper and very toxic relationship. It is more of the case where we are told the character is smart and exceptional and blah blah where in reality we see that from the actions of the character it is not true.

OVERALL: Would not recommend. The beginning of the book was awesome but after that I very often considering DNFing this book and I am still regretting I never actually did DNF it. What a waste of my time. Do not support toxic and abusive relationships.

What do you think about SECRETS OF SKIN AND STONE?
