BLURB: Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He's just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he's arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Jack knows is that he didn't kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn't stand a chance of convincing anyone. not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Even tho it is a first book of long Jack Reacher series it is not the first book of it I have read. A few years ago I had an opportunity to listen to 61 hours, much more recent book of Jack Reacher so I kinda knew what I am getting myself into. Nevertheless, I am a sucked for reading book in correct order even when you don't have to so here we are.

THE WORLD: Now let me tell you something amazing. So the world is like ours that is clear enough. Buuuuuut this book was published in 1997 and let me tell you, it does not feel like it at all! I am blown away how today it feels, I mean you would think that hey technologies in books about criminal justice would be so outdated and true there are no mobile phones when you think about it but really, it never ever felt like I was reading a book which is almost 20 years old! Amazing!

CHARACTERS: Our main character is named Jack Reacher, it is the first book in the series so we get to know him rather well which I just loved. He is an ex-military, lost at what he should do now till they find his brother's body and he gets involved in solving the crime. Must say, I like Jack, like really like him. He is funny, simple and flawed. A perfect character for a series. Next to him of course we have a few more series, an old police detective trying to solve the crime, a young female police who becomes also a romantic interest...in a way it is a typical story, but again it does not feel boring or outdated. It felt good, the characters were right and just don't know, all was very well written.

LOVE: All the time while listening to this book I was trying to remember if Jack had same love interest as in this book later on. The end of this book of course solved my riddle. But anyhow, there is of course love, well romance and it was cute, like adult cute. I really enjoy having a break from typical YA romance, this was just so mature and so realistic (having in mind I am not a teenager myself anymore).

PLUS: The mystery of the crime, damn that was good. I did not see it coming and if it was not a 20 years old idea and I was broke and decided to become a criminal I for sure would do exactly as they did in this book. Brilliant!

MINUS: Don't really have a minus. Maybe the criminals were just a little bit too stupid sometimes. But hey Jack had been in military since the day he was born, it makes sense he had more working brain cells.

OVERALL: 3.5/5 stars. There was nothing bad with this book but I kinda wanted to be blown away just a bit more. I am definitely continuing with the series tho! Highly recommend for crime fans!

P.S. I still have no idea why this book was titled Killing Floor! Lol
