BLURB:
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
EXPECTATIONS: One of my most anticipated new releases. I literary waited in line for it for 2 months!
THE WORLD: Ordinary our every day life. Actually, our main character cannot leave her house so the world ultimately is very limiting and we are mainly in her house.
CHARACTERS: Our main character is called Anna and she has suffered a huge trauma that let her to not being able to leave her house. She is rather heavy medicated and she drinks way more than she should be opposite to the characters in Paula Hawkins characters you still like Anna a lot. She is a child psychologist by the profession and still works online from time to time, tho talking to adults instead. She is also a huge fan of black and white movies and has a massive collection of them. I mean in general Anna is nothing special but due to her circumstances she ends up watching her neighbors a lot and when one day a new family arrives things start to unravel. Now let me say this, I know it sounds like another ordinary thrillers with flawed characters but it is not. Anna is brilliant and very inspiring, her story is heartbreaking and I really consider Anna one of best written Thriller characters.
ROMANCE: There is a bit of sex in this book but no romance. There is no homewreckers or mistresses.
GOOD: This book does not aim to cheat you in any way, it does not rely on twist but rather on characters and I just loved it for that reason to bits!
BAD: Nothing, really a great book.
OVERALL: It is one of my favorite books of this year and I cannot wait to get my own physical copy. Highly recommend!
