Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. Today we are waiting for King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard!
3rd book of the Red Queen series! This series was a huge bomb the last couple of years.
Publication date: February 7th, 2017
Publisher: HarperTeen
In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s bestselling Red Queen series, allegiances are tested on every side. And when the Lightning Girl's spark is gone, who will light the way for the rebellion?
Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother's web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.
As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare's heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.
When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.
Well, well, Hannah and I have read this one. We read it more or less at the same time and at first we both liked it but then Hannah thought it was too similar to The Grisha trilogy. It's not the first time I've heard the series is similar to X or Y but I tend to not mind this kind of things because in reality you can pretty much find a match for every book. That being said I read the second book and I thought it suffered from "second book syndrome"... also Mare kept getting on my nerves. I hope she'll be better in this book because let's keep it real, I'm still reading the third book (and probably the fourth one as well) xD
I haven't seen any reviews... were there ARCs distributed? I haven't seen any.
