This book was suggested to us by author herself and as we pick one book of all your suggestions every month the Suggested Book of the Month was Lali of the Lill!
I personally did not know much of the book before reading it, the synopsis on Goodreads was a little bit short to my liking so all in all I went into it rather blind!

Alright, I personally found this book a little bit hard to read. I somehow think it should be maybe directed to a little bit younger audience as for me, I just could not get pass some issues, they just kept bothering me. But despite that, I think it was a nice first installment into the new series, surely first half of the book was very very confusing and I had many issues with logic but overall it was not really something that would make me put it down.

PLUS: London, I lived in London myself and it was a nice reminder. Also, first part being rather dragging and confusing the second half actually turned out nice. I think it was one of these books were you can see author first being very careful and rather over-thinking things and then just catching that flow and off we go!

MINUS:  Now as I have already mentioned, I had a few issues with this book. First and well it is really common when it comes to YA books...the names. I mean they were not English, or at least not British. I don't mean Lali or her step-mother, as they were not locals but others...I have never heard most of these names like ever and I do live in UK. I wish YA authors would just stop making up all weird names and just stick with ordinary. Yeah, sure it might make the character sound ordinary but well when the character is awesome itself I don't think it needs any fancy unpronounceable name. Another think that bothered me was the sentence formation while chit chatting...I don't know. It just felt false and forced to me.

OVERALL: I know I have poured rather a lot of critique here but it does not mean that I did not like the book. It had a nice story and tho starting very confusing it eventually found its pace. I think as it was the first book of the author (I think so) it was good. I cannot say this about many authors, really. Plus, now that the author seems to have caught her flow next books should be even better!

I absolutely agree about names. It makes it difficult to get a good reading flow when the names are so silly. I also wonder if it doesn't contribute to the bizarre things people are naming their children.
