SYNOPSIS: After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.

Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

I have to admit, I was skeptical about this book. I know many people loved it and I did pick it up in the library but I just had this bad feeling that I will not like it. I haven't read many books about aliens and I somehow had this idea that I do not like aliens. Tho, I really liked Roswell TV Show, I am a weirdo sometimes I know.

This book...guys this book... Alright, let's breath and try to produce some clear understandable sentences that are not just OMG AHRNSH or RRRRR.

THE WORLD: It is partially a dystopian world. The reason I say partially is because it is really the world exactly like ours just with some aliens invading it. It is in between that pre-apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic phase. You know how the zombie movies usually start? With the views of abandoned dirty cities and highways fool of abandoned cars? Well that is exactly the type of world we see in this book minus the zombies. And I really love this type of the world! It is maybe my favorite, I know the creep once again.

CHARACTERS: The main character in the book is Cassie. However, as it is write from point of view of different characters there really are more than one main character. The reason I say Cassie is the main for me is because every single character in this book that has his/her own chapter really in the end is related to Cassie. So yes, this book is about Cassie and her friends: Ben, Evan, Sammy...and we have a few more. You just need to read the book and you will agree with me that there are more. It is just the way characters are build...it is very very good!

LOVE: I do not know a book that does not have romance in it. However, here it is very minimal. I just love how Cassie is dealing with her feelings. I actually think or at least hope I would act the same in her place, she earned my respect when it came to romance in this book.

PLUS:  When I think about this book and why it worked so good I think it was because of the way it is written. It is no stupid alien invasion blow up the Earth type of style. The aliens are really really smart in this book, the twist here is just WOW. Plus I really loved how we get the point of the view from outside and inside constantly. It just created that magical plot line and everything just everything made sense. If we get invaded I really wish it was same way by such a badass genius aliens!

OVERALL: Strangely I always thought that there is no way I could relate to anybody in the book about aliens. But you know what guys, I really did relate to Cassie. And no it was not because of the name. Alright, maybe that did play a little role but still... I really really love Cassie. She is a badass and she is loyal... if such invasion happened I wish I had Cassie on my side!
So now I have already put the next book in my next month's TBR and let's start counting days!

What did you guys think about THE 5th WAVE?
